Yellow Mountain Imports Japanese Riichi Mahjong Set - White and Yellow Standard Size Tiles - with East Wind Tile and Black Vinyl Case

This is my first Mahjong set, so I've nothing to compare to, but the tiles themselves are very nice. They seem well made, and are consistent with pretty much no defects - if I was to nitpick, one of my 3-sou tiles is a little underpainted, but not a huge issue. They were smaller than I expected, not being familiar with standard sizing, and having only seen the game played with larger tiles, but I think I might like them this way. The tile designs look great, with a two-tone black and maroon colour scheme (with a brighter red for the red doras), although I think I'd have preferred if they included some dark green on the relevant soh and dragon tiles. I love the shade of yellow used on the backs.The other accessories are not of the same standard as the tiles, but are adequate. The case is attractive enough, if not the sturdiest. The trays are cheap moulded plastic, and the one for the dice and points sticks was cracked, but still functional. The dice are irregularly sized and shaped, which would be catastrophic for some games, but Mahjong can get away with it, I think. The points sticks are, again, cheap plastic, with inconsistent paint work, and some sprues still attached - might take an emery board to them to tidy them up a bit.There are exactly enough points sticks for a 30,000 point game. This is the standard for Europe, as I learned from the included rulebook issued by the European Mahjong Association, which I assume YMI only put in the boxes sold in this region, but was a nice addition.Overall, for the price, I'd definitely recommend the set. The quality of the tiles, which are the most important factor, more than make up for the shortcomings elsewhere.

I will not give a review when I have to go through all this hassle, I'm old and just want to say whether I liked it or not.Five stars and great product and value.

This product is wonderful, honestly for only 65 quid this is a really high end mahjong set, the tiles are just the right size for playing (ive yet to use them for playing) and all the whole set packs away neatly into the provided case.I was a bit worried to begin with with the case only using snap shut clips but they have proved me wrong they hold together really well and walking around with them makes it easier.Would buy another set if I was to get an automatic table but for pleasure play this set is wonderful.The only issue I had found but not an issue with the company is when using the tiles the dragon tiles can be confusing as the Red Dragon is Yellow, the Green Dragon is White and the White Dragon is blank. But apart from that I can say this product is fantastic and well crafted.

Good quality for the money , smooth finish and nice packaging. Shame it come without even basic play instructions.

all the tiles are smooth and perfect, with no cracks or chips, and all the paint is done beautifully. lovely little case for them and basic instructions included.

Very nice quality Mahjong set. The carry case comes with 4 trays in which you can store all tiles. Included are also point sticks for 4 player 30k starting points as well as a set of 4 dice and a EMA Riichi Mahjong booklet.The only downside is that the 4 dice are cut/molded unevenly which is noticable when they are stored in their tray and on flat surfaces. This is however not a problem for me personally since I already have an extensive dice collection...White dragon dora is always funny on clean white dragon tile sets.
