I purchased my first bottle of Castle Forbes Lime Oil Aftershave Balm in October of 2011, and I am just now replacing it with a new one. Yes, this stuff is a little pricey, but it is well worth the price to me.This balm comes packaged in a very nice box, and inside you will find the actual bottle. It is a heavy, solid bottle, with a nice cap, and it looks very attractive sitting on your counter or in your medicine cabinet.The first thing you will probably notice when using it is the delicious lime smell. It smells wonderful, but is not overpowering once on your skin. It is a fresh, light scent that I enjoy all year.The balm itself is very high quality, and makes my skin feel great after even the closest straight razor or double edge shave. In the past, I used several different "sensitive skin" aftershave balms from all the big names you find in chain drug stores, and non of them work as well as the Castle Forbes. This balm works so much better that I can actually use less than the big brands, and my skin still feels more moisturized and less irritated. While a bottle of the competitors balms would last me a month, maybe two tops, the Castle Forbes has lasted me 9 months as of now, and I still have about a month's worth left in the bottle!After using this, I have no redness, no irritation, and no razor burn. It leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized, without being greasy. If you apply too much, it can make your face feel "sticky" for a while after, but that just means you applied more than you need. With a product as high quality as this, less is more!Overall, yes it is expensive, but you can use much less than competitor's offerings, it smells great, it feels great, and most importantly, it works!!

I'm rewriting my previous review (listed at end) because when I'm wrong, I admit it.I've come back to Castle Forbes because I learned that there is no product that provides the quality and product life comparable to Castle Forbes (sorry Proraso). Here's what I learned:The texture, and this is where I went wrong in my last review, is not to be used (slathered) like other products. This is a wonderful balm that I believe is best used sparingly and it will both out perform in quality and last for months past any other balm experience. "Sparingly", to me, is a small (i.e. size of a dime - or less) amount applied with damp/wet hands. The product delivers a slick and fragrant after shaving experience that I highly recommend.Many things can go wrong in a shave (i.e. quality of cream, sharpness of blade, aggressiveness of razor, etc.) but the last step of the shave, the closing act, is the application of the balm which will tell you all you need to know and remember about your shave before you tackle the rest of the day.I've learned that Castle Forbes aftershave balm delivers time and again. No pain or burn. No sticky slather with overwhelming or lingering scent. Just quality and value - well worth the price and experience - you'll see.Original Review:I'm a great fan of the Castle Forbes shaving cream - but - while I like the strong lime scent upon application, and that it does not linger more than a few minutes after application, I can't justify the price vs. value on this one. The balm is a little heavy (almost sticky) on application. In the end, as much as I like Castle Forbes, for aftershave balm I will stick to Proraso - it's smoother, lighter, and a fraction of the cost of Castle Forbes for this product.

If you LOVE limes and must have it, then, look no further. You will smell as though you squeezed fresh lime juice all over your face with this balm. Although you can use this year 'round, I think this would be enjoyed more in the hot/humid/warm weather. It is a little sticky, but moisturizes well. Just not as well as some of the other balms I've used from Truefitt & Hill. But I would say it is comparable to The Art of Shaving Balms.Note that the lime smell contained in this bottle is of the sweeter kind. It doesn't have a warm scent but smells more like limes with a little candy sweetness.The package says you can use this as a moisturizing night cream. It works great that way for your shaving area. I would argue that you can also use this as a face moisturizer too, that's how thick it is. It comes in a very heavy thick glass container. Pouring it out of the glass is similar to getting ketchup out of a glass bottle, so that speaks to it's overall consistency and quality.If you ever wanted to make friends with a lime, then, here's your chance!Happy Shaving!

This aftershave is fairly expensive, but it should last you quite a while depending on how often you shave. I only have to shave about once a week and my previous bottle lasted me almost 4 years. Other's mileage may vary. I have extremely sensitive skin so finding both a shave cream and an aftershave that didn't have me breaking out in a rash was a very long and annoying process. This does the trick and then some. I've never once had a problem after using Castle Forbes shave gel or aftershave. I love the lime smell as well and I've gotten multiple comments from women about how they like it (don't tell my wife)

I was expecting great things at this price point, but very disappointing. Runny lotion that doesn't really do much except smell like lime candy. Very sweet smelling and little protection.

Castle Forbes is true quality and luxury. If you appreciate having something hand made in small batches with care and love, then this is your product and brand. I love their lime fragrance line. Once you are done shaving and you apply this aftershave balm, your face will feel silky smooth and smell like a wonderful, zesty lime!

Exactly the product I have been enjoying for years. A light, moisturizing after shave balm with a clean, crisp scent.

Non amo particolarmente i dopobarba in balsamo, ma questo è assolutamente ottimo e lo alterno ai dopobarba della TOB.

I have tried several aftershave balms, and I have found Castle Forbes Lime to be my favorite. I like the clean smell of lime, and the way my face feels after using it. Yes, it is a little pricey, but a very small amount goes a long way. I also use Castle Forbes lime shaving cream, too.

Come anche i saponi da barba della stessa casa, il balsamo dopo barba della Castle & Forbes è senza alcun dubbio il migliore fra i tantissimi che ho provato, di ogni livello di prezzo. La sua efficacia nel lenire e idratare la pelle offesa dal rasoio pur usando una minima quantità di prodotto è eccezionale. Si assorbe velocemente e non lascia minimamente unti. Il costo è notevole ma la qualità e l’efficacia lo giustificano e poi dura molto perchè ne basta pochissimo per ogni applicazione. Il profumo dato dall’utilizzo di olio essenziale e non di profumo chimico risulta favoloso e molto intenso, adatto al periodo caldo dell’anno.

I just love this product, the perfect finish to a shave, much kinder to your face than aftershave and smells great. I will be looking at the other quality products from Castle Forbes. Highly recommend.
