could not be more pleased
after looking for sometime I decided to try these files over all others. delivery was right on time. the plastic sleeves are well built . I needed something to work on 3D wooden pictures without being to agressive. these files arre great! strong, well built, non agressive with light pressure but will take off a lot with more pressure. does not tear out on soft pine but does a great job when working a knot. surface is easily sanded afterward. I would consider these files to be the best for any type of woodworking. well worth the price. will buy again if the need arises.

Good price/value balance
These needle files work well, reasonably fast stock removal with minimal tear-out. I'm using them for shaping guitar necks. Handles are pretty comfortable, and the points are sharp but I don't cut my fingers like I tend to do with a Shinto rasp.Very good at the low price point.

Very good medium rasps for the price
I paid $17 for the two rasps. I don't think that you can get anything better than these unless you spend many times more. These rasps have what I would consider a medium grain. They cut well and leave a decent surface with minimal tearout. The pointy shape makes them very versatile.I only see two downsides with this set:- The handles are terrible - they're made from a waxy plastic that feels weird, doesn't have a good shape, and doesn't give you a good grip. I threw them away and made wooden handles.- The 8" and the 10" have identical grain, and a very similar shape, so there is really no benefit to having both. It would have been nice to get a finer grain on the 8", but I guess you get what you pay for. Some comparisons to other rasps and wood files:- Compared to a Narex "fine" rasp (the machine stitched kind, not the hand stitched). The NKTM is far superior in every way (except the handle) - it cuts better, has a better shape and leaves a better finish.- Compared to the "fine" side of a Shinto saw rasp - the NKTM cuts a bit slower, and leaves a slightly better finish. Because the NKTM is a conventional cabinet rasp, it is better for curves and tight spots. The Shinto and the NKTM are a good combination for the first and second pass - use the Shinto to quickly remove stock, then refine with the NKTM, then move to something finer.- Compared to an Iwasaki fine-cut wood file - the NKTM is faster and rougher than the Iwasaki. The Iwasaki is a good grit to follow the NKTM.
